What Melburnians want

This year we Melburnians discovered what matters most, not only in terms of our priorities and our lifestyles, but also with regard to townhomes. By all accounts, Hillgrove’s new townhomes, known as The Hedges, have become the new must haves.

Separate zones

While open plan has long been popular, lockdown emphasised the need for separate zones. Areas away from each other, enabling someone to work from home without the household interrupting them. The Hedges is ideal. Not only are there two living spaces, upstairs and down, two dining areas, inside and out, The Hedges is on two floors. So it’s possible for someone to have their study in the upstairs sitting room, well away from the hub of the home with its TV, kitchen and household comings and goings. Alternatively, rather than three bedrooms, go for four and use the extra one for a desk and perhaps a sofa bed for guests.

Reduced commute

Working from home won’t stop anytime soon. In fact, most firms are open to staff working from home at least two or three days a week in the future. So families that have needed two cars could very easily exist with one. The Hedges townhomes have either a single or dual garage. But if you don’t need all this secure, undercover space for parking, it could always be used for additional storage, hobbies or even double as a home gym.

Opposite a park

This year Melburnians became used to exercising for an hour or two. No longer is it a chore. It has become the highlight of our day and The Hedges scores bigtime here as well. Opposite a park, residents can stroll, jog and walk the dog, but it doesn’t stop there. With families and friends being encouraged to eat outdoors, picnics have become very popular. So you can lay a rug in the picturesque park opposite. Or even set up the table in your own alfresco dining area.

Time with family and friends

Melburnians also want more time with the people in our lives. No longer do we want to spend weekends mowing lawns, weeding or maintaining a garden. The low maintenance outdoors area at The Hedges, gives you enough space for kids to play or to have a pet but with little upkeep. Of course, if you ever feel like kicking a ball or playing fetch with the dog, there’s plenty of space in the park opposite and even better, someone else maintains it.

It’s been a year of reassessing everything from how much we spend to where we work, what we like to do, and also who matters most. The Hedges at Hillgrove is just what home buyers want.
